Emergency Services

The Emergency Department provides treatment and stabilization to all patients seeking emergency medical care.

The Hospital’s Emergency Department is a 17-bed unit that is open 24-hours, seven days a week and is staffed by emergency physicians, physicians’ assistant’s, nurse practitioners, and registered nurses.

The nursing staff at Wilkes Regional are all certified in Advanced Cardiac Life Support, which is an advanced cardiac course designed to enhanced cardiac proficiency. Most of the nursing staff also carries other certifications pertinent to ED nursing, including Pediatric Advanced Life Support and Trauma Nurse Core Curriculum. 7 nurses in the ED also hold Certified Emergency Nursing Certifications, which is the highest level of ED Nursing expertise awarded by the Emergency Nurses' Association.

A Minor Care Center is available from 11am-11pm daily, to provide care to those patients experiencing minor emergencies and illnesses.
