A Little Bit About Wilkes County
Nestled in the foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains, Wilkes is an outdoors lover's paradise. It provides a small town atmosphere with wonderful amenities, and is located within easy reach of many prominent North Carolina cities. Located just 80 miles from Charlotte, 45 miles from Winston-Salem, 45 miles from Hickory, and 35 minutes from Boone, Wilkes County remains an ideal location for those looking to escape the fast paced world of city living, while remaining close enough to commute for a night out on the town. We are a very friendly and family-based community where our patient population is quite diverse. Wilkes County offers the best of both worlds, presented with the flair of true southern hospitality.
A Little Bit About Wake Forest Baptist Health – Wilkes Medical Center
For more than 80 years, Wake Forest Baptist Health – Wilkes Medical Center has provided high quality and cost effective health care to the citizens of Wilkes County and the surrounding areas. Wake Forest Baptist Health – Wilkes Medical Center is owned by the Town of North Wilkesboro, managed by CHS, and governed by the Hospital Operating Corporation; a conscientious team of community leaders who volunteer their time. The 130-bed community hospital is also home to a 10-bed skilled nursing unit. A physician network, Wilkes Physician Network (WPN), has been established in coordination with Carolinas Healthcare System (CHS) and we continue to add primary care physicians and specialist to this network. Offices with the network are located in our prestigious Medical Park Campus within a quarter mile from the hospital that houses 40+ physicians and other medical staff services, or in close proximity.
A full-time hospitalist program is available for those physicians that desire to focus on their out-patient practice. This is an opportunity to practice medicine without the burden of running a practice and trying to juggle being in two places at once.
Our employed opportunities through the network offer a very competitive compensation and benefit package, with an RVU productivity bonus structure.
