Wilkes Regional Medical Center has recently been recognized by the American Red Cross for their many accomplishments. In the USA Today paper, Wilkes Regional was recognized as one of the 250 North Carolina sponsors reaching the designated goal for the "Recovery 2011" winter nationwide donor drive. The "Recovery 2011" recognition requires reaching 110% of the donor goal between the months of January 15th - February 15th which is the hardest time to have donor participation.

Wilkes Regional was also honored as one of the top ten sponsors for the Winston-Salem service area. The premier sponsor luncheon was held at Graylyn Conference Center in Winston-Salem. Other award recipients included, Appalachian State University and Channel 8 Fox News. Barbara Walsh-Phillips, WRMC blood bank supervisor and hospital blood drive coordinator attended the luncheon and accepted the award on behalf of Wilkes Regional Medical Center.

Giving blood is crucial in order to increase the available supply of life saving blood products. For every pint of blood given it creates three blood products that impacts three lives. Join Wilkes Regional Medical Center in their blood drives on the first Thursday of every other month. The remaining 2011 blood drive schedule for Wilkes Regional is: August 4th, October 6th, and December 1st from 7:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. You can view this information on our website at Please call 336-651-8551 for an appointment.
